Thank goodness for iPhones!

Sometimes my phone is the only camera around when something important is happening! Here are a few from Colby's first month...

Macy checking on Colby while he was laying in my lap. She hardly ever bothers him but she definitely likes to know where he is!

First tummy time

First smile for Daddy. He was only 3 weeks old so it might not technically a smile... but it was definitely while looking at Daddy and as precious as can be.

Grandad likes to come visit sometimes to hold Colby for a little while.

The first time Mommy caught me looking at Macy.

After the first bath that I didn't scream through!

Merry Christmas!

We had such a special Christmas! Having a sweet baby to love on and share with family was such a joy. We started the weekend off with a trip to Austin. Here he is meeting his great grandmother Turner. She rocked him and loved on him so much.
And we LOVED seeing these three girls. They are each so precious with Colby and he was very entertained by them!
Grandmother with her great grandkids

After a great visit in Austin, we drove back home to have Christmas at home. Somebody could hardly stay awake for the trip down the stairs to see what Santa brought him.

Of course Santa came to see Macy too :)
Gran and Grandad came over for a lazy breakfast and then we spent the day in our pj's.
The next day we celebrated with family here in Katy... and this sweet girl was ready to celebrate.
Colby got time with his great grandmother Wylie.
The dads did a great job of baby holding :)

So did the grandparents:
Lexy was trying to take a nap and Colby decided he needed his diaper changed... cousin bunk beds!

Lexy is so precious!
One of the fun gifts Colby received... ready to pack for Gran and Granddad's!
Attempt at a family pic
Finally we attempted a cousin pic... most of them looked like this:

Much better with pacifiers :) Such sweet memories!

Somehow we never got out Christmas cards this year. But we pray that your holiday was full of joy and time with the ones you love. Merry Christmas!

One Month!

I can't believe one month has already passed! I don't think I have ever changed so much in one month... or learned so much... ever in my life. What a joy Colby is.

We went to the doctor and he has grown to 10 lbs and 21 and 3/4 inches. Something about having a doctor tell you that your baby is growing just right is the greatest relief ever! I wish I could go back every day :)

We plan to take his monthly pictures in this recliner. It was Rick's when he was growing up and now it is one of my favorite parts of his room.

It is hard to know his personality just yet. I know he loves to snuggle. The only thing he likes to do more is eat! He had a good growth spurt at 3 weeks old. He is starting to sleep one longer stretch at night of about 4 hours. He is finally sleeping consistently in his bassinet at night. For a while there we reclined, rocked, walked, anything to get him to sleep! We're all getting the hang of it now. Colby, we love you so and can't believe how you are already growing and changing!

A long awaited meeting

One of the sweetest parts of this pregnancy was that I shared it with so many women in my life. The craziest of those is that my sister and I were pregnant at the same time! She gave birth to Lexy exactly (almost to the hour) two weeks before Colby. We just thought we needed each other while we were pregnant... we had no idea! It is so sweet to text my sister at 2 in the morning while I'm feeding my baby and she texts right back because she is feeding her's. Blessed.

We could not wait to get these two loves together. These were the first of what will be millions of pictures of these two together.

Colby all swaddled when Lexy arrived...

Lexy was so calm the entire time and Colby was not having it :)

Sisters with their babies

My parents are so proud and excited!

We are so excited to watch these two grow up together!

Newborn Pictures

Colby was one week old when Jasmin came to take his newborn pictures! She was so wonderful with him and I don't even think he knew anything was happening other than a good nap. There were so many wonderful pictures... these are just a few of our favorites!

A memorable Thanksgiving

Because Colby was born two days before Thanksgiving, we had already had our Thanksgiving celebration with family. We planned to still be in the hospital and I am really glad we did! Somewhere along the way, a lot of our family came down with some sort of stomach virus. In turn, Rick and I came down with it some time in the day after Colby was born. C-section recovery + stomach virus is not a winning combination! But I will forever be grateful that it came in the hospital where there were people to take care of me and Colby rather than the day we came home from the hospital. I feel horrible because several sweet friends tried to stop by and meet Colby, and I was completely out of it! By Thanksgiving Day we were feeling a lot more human and were very relieved to be done with that sickness. Here is our little turkey:

The next day we were finally ready to head home with our sweet love. He got all dressed in his coming home outfit complete with a hat made for him by his Nana. I was relieved to see the outside of the hospital and head home!

Here we are at home with our family of three.

We were very anxious for Macy to meet Colby and it was completely anti-climactic. I say that with gratitude. She checked him out a little and then went about her business. So far that is basically what she does. So long as there is a spot for her to snuggle in she is a happy camper. Here she is just checking on things.

We certainly have plenty to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!
